What is Content Marketing? – Since 1880’s

What is Content Marketing? – Since 1880’s

Content Marketing”, you must have heard buzz word and felt that you know everything about this and suddenly find yourself in the spot, unsure if you’d want to reconfirm if you’ve understood it right. Great, now is your chance to learn about this great marketing technique.

What is Content Marketing?

Addressing the elephant here, What is content marketing? It is a form of marketing where the marketers work on creating relevant, consistent, and valuable content to target a specific audience and build a loyal customer base.

Content marketing stands on the ledge of marketing, where if you remove the word valuable from the above paragraph, it falls in the pit of conventional marketing techniques. The only thing that sets it apart from other traditional marketing techniques is that it does not directly promote the brand or boasts about it. Instead, it shares relevant information for the benefit of the audience.

It is really about sharing a great story that passed on from one person to another. Honestly, content marketing isn’t dependent on the Internet. It has been here for over a century now.

The Beginning, The Comeback & The Present of Content Marketing Strategy

During the late 1800s, the consumer-focused content started taking shape. With brands focusing on sharing helpful information for their target audience, they started publishing content that could be consumed by the audience that helped them in their everyday lives.

The experts realized that they could not only make it as an advertisement but also build a strong relationship with their customers by helping them search for beneficial information. This strategy proved to be a successful formula, though it needed a lot of effort & time to build the right content marketing strategy.

The well-known tractor brand “John Deere” is one of the pioneers to implement content marketing during the starting years of this technique. The brand started a magazine called The Furrow in 1885. The purpose of this magazine was to help/guide the farmers on how they could make their business profitable.

The Furrow

The Furrow

The magazine did not directly promote any John Deere products but shared some valuable information and stories of farmers on how they succeeded using the information shared. It not only increased the magazine readers but increased the sales of John deere products. The brand now has 1.5 million readers in 40 countries and published in 12 languages.

In the 1940s, this technique was soon replaced by advertisements as the companies focused more on sales than relationships. It was the golden era of Television where commercials took over the gamut of media.

In the 1990s, came the computers and took the whole world by storm, this was the comeback time for content marketing. The Internet gave a significant push to content that could spread to many and quickly.

This history answers the question, why is content marketing important? In the present day, it has taken the front seat. It has been the most preferred strategy for marketers. From blogs to social media posts, many digital tools have become an integral part of the content marketing strategy. So, What is Content Marketing, it is truly the future of marketing.

How does content marketing strategy work?

There are umpteen content marketing strategies that exist in today’s world. Earlier, there were very few tools for marketing your content, but there were many strategies, but there are now too many tools, even a more significant number of procedures.

What is Content Marketing? - Content Marketing Strategy

What is Content Marketing? – Content Marketing Strategy

Your strategy should define the business goals and customer needs and how your content will answer them.

Businesses focus on getting the following from their content marketing strategy.

  1. Incremental sales
  2. Save cost
  3. Increased customer loyalty

To achieve the above, every business needs to develop a content marketing strategy at these phases of the customer’s buying cycle:

  1. Need – Brands need to focus on creating awareness since the customers only have the need but aren’t aware of the solution at first.
  2. Identification – Once customers are aware, they begin researching the information and features of the product. Brands need to share vital information on what the customer needs to see in the product as the best solution.
  3. Comparison – With all the features decided on what features he/she needs, the customer begins the process of comparing various brands. Here, the content has to be all about the experience of using the product rather than pushing on price points or discounts.
  4. Purchase – The final step in the buying process is buying the product, and brands now need to create a sense of community, a family, where the customer feels the inclusiveness and instills loyalty.

All of the above steps use various tools or a combination of content marketing strategy tools.

What does content marketing include?

It is very different from conventional marketing. It includes things that share valuable information like articles, blogs, books, ebooks, videos, physical events & webinars, hands-on product demo.

Now you know the basics of what is content marketing. Go on and try to develop some exciting content for your customers.

Dreamscape Immersive

NorthPark is quite famous for its collection of artefacts, beautiful restaurants, and always swanky atmosphere. As much as it is about the stores, it has always been about the experience at NorthPark–something that’s become increasingly important in the era of online shopping. It is one of the key reasons why NorthPark Center, Dallas, became the choice of Dreamscape Immersive as their second experiential venue in the world. Their 3rd location opened in February this year at Colombus, Ohio.

Virtual Reality, what is it all about?

Virtual Reality or as it is widely known as VR is a computer technology to create an artificial environment. It offers an experience for the users to believe that they are in a real environment and not a computer-generated world. VR basically impacts the 2 primary human senses, seeing & listening.

Virtual Reality is an immersive experience that is felt using the VR gear which is generally a headset which covers the eyes and some section of ears. This technology has grown multifold, helping various industries prosper rapidly like Medical, Automobile, Gaming & Entertainment.

Diving into the Dreamscape virtual reality entertainment arena

Let’s explore the NorthPark Virtual reality venue. The location hosts three storylines to experience, which goes down to aliens, whales, and adventure. The charges are about $20 per ticket for anybody who is ten years and above & above 4 ft height. Once you enter the arena, you’re suited up with the proprietary gear which includes a lot of wearables like body-mapping sensors for hands and feet, VR gear for the visual and audio experience.

The best part about the arena is the dedicated staff who are available to assist you with the equipment and are available throughout the show if anybody needs help. This arena can accommodate six people for every show. The duration of every show is 15 minutes. It looks less but is worth the experience.

4 Virtual Reality Tours You must experience at Dreamscape immersive

Let me take you through the three virtual reality tour options. Tour option number one is “Curse of the Lost Pearl,” which is more like the Indiana Jones experience. The intention is not to kill your experience. It is a thrilling experience in the tour of “Curse of the Lost Pearl”. Your exploration journey will comprise of walking into an ancient temple, searching for the hidden clues, and even get a taste of some roller-coaster action. It is visually amazing. The story lets you forget about the real world stress and enjoy the adventure.

The 2nd option in the virtual reality tour at Dreamscape is “The Blu: Deep Rescue.” This story is soothing, a little less action-packed than the previous story, but it is just spectacular. It is a deep dive into the sea life, exploring the beautiful underwater creatures. In this storyline, you will dive in to save a baby whale. It feels disappointing when the show ends as you’d want to be there for a little more time.

The third story option is “Alien Zoo.” The story sounds creepy with aliens, and to top it, and it’s an alien zoo which humans can visit. It surely would be an adventurous experience to visit an alien land and watch the creatures in the zoo. This story is sure to give you a chill in the spine during the ride watching the different lifeforms from the farthest corners of the universe to save them from extinction. The zoo hosts endangered species from across the galaxy. Some are friendly. Some are wild. This ride is worth every penny!!!

The fourth and new addition to the immersive Virtual tours is the first Dragon flight academy. It takes you to the land of Vikings, the village of Berk in the North Sea island. As soon as you enter, You’ll get into your virtual avatar of Viking armour and begin your training with famous Vikings of Berk, Astrid and Hiccup. Learn faster along with seven other rookies in your class and save the day for Berk. Just make sure you don’t set ablaze your virtual world!!!

The complete arena is thoroughly cleaned and all equipment and gears sanitized well to ensure the safety of all guests who visit.

The experience at Dreamscape immersive is undoubtedly going to be a memorable one for you because of these three reasons. First is the storylines, Second is the technology & the third is founders. The founders of this splendid VR world Walter Parkes, the producer of “Men In Black” & Bruce Vaughn, previously managed the Walt Disney Imagineering division, which designs & builds Disney’s theme parks. Visiting NorthPark Center in Dallas is undoubtedly going to take its place in your bucket list soon.

Virtual Meetings for Real Business Growth in 2020

Virtual Meetings for Real Business Growth in 2020

We know we are at an evolutionary tipping point when a new eponym infiltrates our lingo. You’ll
“Xerox” a document, “Google” a term, and “Uber it” to work. And now, we have the rise of “Let’s
Zoom” and “We’ll WebEx” – a corporate trend indicative of virtual meetings increasingly becoming
the new normal to meet business objectives.

The COVID-19 Catalyst

Come to think of it, the rise of digitalization and the shift to a virtual way of working was already in
motion before the pandemic. COVID-19 has merely served to accelerate this shift. Even before the
pandemic brought the corporate world to its knees, the global market for virtual meeting platforms
was estimated at USD 3bn and poised to grow at a CAGR of 9.8%.

With the coronavirus forcing a new work-from-home culture, these projections have gone for a toss. In March, virtual meeting apps saw 62m downloads in just one week, with Webex registering a record 324m participants. Installations of Zoom’s mobile app has “zoomed” a whopping 728% in the last two months. And, quite predictably, a range of new virtual meeting platforms have cropped up. It’s clear that corporates see virtual meeting platforms as the key to new-age business growth.

Virtual meetings and corporate growth

Scale, cost, and speed. Successful corporate growth is a function of these 3 variables. Scale determines
how you amplify the top line of your business, expand your workforce, and bulk up your balance sheet.
Controlling costs is integral to the bottom line. Finally, speed determines how fast and efficiently the
business can scale up, keeping costs under control.

Virtual meetings offer a convenient sweet spot enabling an interplay of these variables. Corporates are increasingly realizing how to video conference technology can bring together large masses of geographically dispersed participants, significantly cutting down on costs and majorly speeding up communication and decision-making.

The virtual conference room

Traditional meetings in the corporate workspace have not been the most efficient way of doing
business. First, there is the hindrance of booking a conference room. Corporate workplace design
takes into account a minimum number of meeting rooms to be made available. However, meetings
seem to have become the sole purpose of going to the office, and many a time, one needs to reschedule a meeting because of the unavailability of a meeting room.

Second, there is always a limited number of participants in a conference room that can accommodate. Third, meetings are often cancelled because geographically dispersed participants are unable to travel on that particular day. Fourth, think of all the additional associated resources – tea, coffee, snacks, electronic hardware. Limited reach, delays, and additional costs – it’s surprising that till now, corporates have been blind to the foolhardiness of physical meetings.

Virtual meetings seem to be a promising replacement for this practice. The unavailability of
conference rooms ceases to be a hindrance. One can accommodate several people on a virtual
meeting platform, the numbers often going into 100s. Location is no longer a factor to consider –
everyone can log in from wherever they are. Moreover, the company saves on travel costs for the
participants. It’s clear how replacing physical meeting rooms with virtual meetings addresses the key
levers of business growth – scale, speed, and cost.

Virtual meeting technology as the new sales channel

Virtual Meeting

Virtual Meeting

The primary function of any business is to sell. That’s where you get the money from, that’s what
builds the top line. Both B2B and B2C sales have traditionally involved meeting customers. In fact, a
salesperson’s lives “on the field”. And the globetrotting executive has been the quintessential image
of corporate success. While customer interaction remains the key to growing your business and
building relationships, the traditional way harbours several inefficiencies.

Corporates are increasingly leveraging virtual meetings with customers to grow in a more meaningful
manner. The scale is again a key variable here. There is a limited number of field visits that a salesperson
can make in a day. If customer interaction is conducted over a virtual meeting platform, this number
can be significantly increased, enabling a reach that is far more superior. It also goes without saying
that the organization can cut down on sales-related costs to a great extent.

Geographical expansion is yet another perspective of looking at the scale. Virtual interaction enables one
to reach out to potential clients who might be located in far-flung locations. Imagine the kind of costs
that can be saved. More importantly, it’s not difficult to see how rapidly relationships can be built and
deals can be cracked. New-age sales often involve a collaborative discussion between the sales team,
customers, vendors, and other partners. And in the traditional way, one can imagine how difficult it
can be to get all these stakeholders together at the same time. Scale, speed, and cost – virtual meetings address all these variables with one solution.

Scaling up associated business functions

Business growth, as explained earlier, is heavily dependant on a scale. This is valid not only for the top
line but also for supporting functions. Because every activity that a corporation engages in has the
objective of making the organization grow. Take recruitment for example. Reaching out to talent is
not an easy job. Physically conducting interview delays the process further. Moreover, high-value
potential recruits are often lost because of their unwillingness to take out time and travel for
interviews. Virtual meeting platforms provide a much more rapid alternative, enabling recruiters to
reach out to the best talent irrespective of where they are based.

With the gig economy poised to disrupt the HR world in the years to come, virtual meetings will prove
to be a certain boon. For business growth, corporates will certainly have to tap into the resource pool
of skilled gig workers. A lot of gig workers will typically prefer telecommuting. It is obvious that the
best investments in virtual meeting platforms will go a long way in making this process smoother for
both employer and employee.

Conferences and training workshops are often looked at with a cost perspective. They are, however,
essential to business growth. Dissemination of company updates and sharing of information, rewards, and recognition, and investments in upskilling and learning indirectly shape a corporate’s growth
curve. Virtual meetings offer scale at an unprecedented level as far as reach is concerned when it
comes to these activities. Not to mention the costs that can be saved thereby.

Playing the virtual card right

With a new way of working comes new challenges. It is evident that the efficiency of virtual meetings
will play a major role in defining how well a business grows. Precautionary measures, virtual work
protocols, and technology will ensure that corporates can leverage virtual meetings in the best possible manner for growth.

For instance, the nature of the selling process itself will have to adapt to this new virtual channel. How
do you instil the same level of confidence in a customer? How do you awe a potential client with your
product’s features? AR and VR are increasingly being integrated with virtual meeting platforms to take
customer experience to the next level.

How do we ensure productivity isn’t compromised while working remotely? What additional features
can be integrated to emulate traditional business processes? How do we ensure sufficient network
bandwidth to support a large number of participants? Moreover, video-conferencing software is a
hotbed for cybercrime. And how do we keep those super-confidential board meetings private?
It’s an evolving game for sure. But with the promised advantages of scale, speed, and cost, the future
of work will definitely see virtual meetings as an integral component to achieve sustained business

Healthy Event Manager = Awesome Event Management in 2020

Healthy Event Manager = Awesome Event Management in 2020

In this ever-evolving fast-paced world, we are super engrossed in our work-life. The race is to achieve ambitious goals. In this race, we ignore our personal life and health (Healthy Event Manager). Especially us “The Event Managers”, we have an incredibly stressful life. It ranks as one of the top stressful jobs (Event Manager Jobs) in the US. The scenario is the same in India as well.

Event management is one of the fastest-growing industries with a revenue projection of INR 10,000 Crore only in India. While the demand for a good Event Manager is so high, the resources are extremely limited. This is one of the major reasons that we are overworked, we multitask on various projects. This scenario is very threatening for the health of Event managers.

Awesome Event Management

Awesome Event Management

With the growing demand for next-generation event managers, event companies keep looking for self-driven candidates. Companies need Event managers who can work on projects round-the-clock for days together. While this is beneficial for the Event manager’s career growth, it affects the health parameters.

We do not realize this when we are fresh in the industry, we are always charged up to take the challenges head-on. With sleepless nights going into the completion of on-ground setups or staying back in the office overnight to finish the last-minute design changes or manage multi-cities event with little or no break.

The work pressure is bound to remain. We need to ensure that we lead a healthy lifestyle. It is possible in many ways like exercising, eating healthy, sleeping enough, avoid smoking / heavy drinking. The average work-life span of Event Managers is generally short. This is due to the reasons you’ve read above.

An event manager requires a healthy body and an active mind as our job demands physical and mental agility. We are the Troubleshooters for our clients. We are the solution finders for every problem that a client faces on their events. Hence, we need to ensure we lead a healthy life to deliver Awesome Event Experience.

Let’s take a look at the different scenarios of Healthy Event Manager:

Scenario A: Mr. X is an event manager who is 28 years old man with 4 years of experience in events. He works long hours on a regular basis, smokes, and drinks heavily. He has been working for long hours to prepare for an event for more than a week, with less than 3 hours of sleep every-day.

A day prior to the event, he spends 3/4th of the time on the event setup & preparations on site. With the only couple of hours to rest, he is bound to be low on energy and the chances are that he might fumble in some tasks. Which will eventually lead to not so great experience for the client.

Scenario B: Mr. Y is an event manager who is 30 years old man and holds more than 6 years of experience in event management. He spends for an optimum time at work, does not smoke & drinks occasionally. During the event prep days, he remains in office for long hours to get the work done.

He works 18 hours a day for a week before the event, during the event day he works for a maximum time of the day and rests for 4 hours before the show. He is now fresh for the show and ready to manage the event flawlessly. Output, Awesome event experience for all the event stakeholders.

Healthy Event Manager = Awesome Event Management

Healthy Event Manager = Awesome Event Management

Now we had a look at both the scenarios and understood how fitness is necessary to deliver the best output at work. These may vary the basis of the experience/expertise that an individual has.

While everybody in the industry seems concentrated on sharing more things to do, read, or plan, nobody seems to care about the body that keeps everything going. The objective of this article is of course to give you, the “Event Managers” some tips on how to manage a Fit & Healthy lifestyle while managing events.

Another important objective is to stimulate the discussion of this topic in the industry. We wish to see people in the industry talking about improving working lifestyle as those discussing social media for events.

From my personal experience of working for more than a decade in the corporate event management space, running around and scheduling customer meetings, sitting for long hours at my desk to plan and prepare, running the console, managing the event setups, etc… it literally affects many aspects of your life.

It gives you a poor posture and the long hours of sitting and standing increases the risk of pain in joints, fatigue, and many other health problems. We need to pay more attention to the way we sit and stand for how long to reduce this possibility.

Things we need to avoid are drooping shoulders while seated, soft chairs and always ensure our spine is in a properly aligned position, no drooping and have your back against the support of your chair. Make sure your chair is set at the right height to allow your thighs to be at the right angles to your body.

When you are standing for an entire day, try and sit when you can. If feasible, take time to do a few basic exercises like lunges and squats. You can also do some shoulder stretching, these simple activities will ease your pressure and help you stay fresh and active for much longer.

With exercise, food is also a critical element in maintaining good health & a fit body. Whilst we are engrossed in the work, we ignore the nutrition quotient and eat all the possible junk food. Eating junk food regularly is a threat to our health and we should stop ignoring this. There are times when we do not find time to eat a proper meal as you must finish an urgent task.

A simple solution to this is to have an energy bar handy which can be a good energy refill for a while or eat fruits which are a good source of energy. While you can eat these and many other healthy small meals, a full meal is always a must.

While these are some basic exercises and quick meal ideas which you can follow on the event sites or office, there are many other workouts and food habits which are ideal for event managers in daily routine. We will be soon covering them in our next blog. Till then, stay healthy and follow the best practices for a healthy lifestyle. The world needs healthy event managers to deliver Awesome events and everlasting experiences.

Is there a Sachin Tendulkar in your home?

Is there a Sachin Tendulkar in your home?

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar (Sachin Tendulkar), the name isn’t unknown for most of the Homo Sapiens born in the latter half of the 20th century on Planet Earth. Exceptions are few tennis players. Mesmerizing the world with his cricketing magic, he truly deserved to be called ‘The God’ of the game. He may be a yesteryear player, but his drives, cuts, pulls, and glances still linger in his fans’ minds. GenZ might know all but the name, but the GenX – who have not just lived the era and dreamt Cricket with ‘The God’ – can only understand the emotions that SRT carried in the billion hearts.

Countless times people would have said that ‘There cannot be another Sachin Tendulkar ever,’ obviously, we were and still are bewitched by the spell that the wizard cast on us. But is the statement as timeless as the Master Blaster himself?

Let’s try to break the percent of truth, analysis, or emotion, hard to tell. Sometimes we are so engrossed in someone that we don’t know if we carry a little thought.

Also, it may not be the first time that such statements have been made, I have heard oldies speaking the same about Little Master Sunil Gavaskar, or Sir Vivian Richards or Sir Donald Bradman, but still, we had Sachin Tendulkar, a weird combination of calmness and aggression and consistency.

Tendulkar might have faced the pace of Ambrose and Walsh, dreadful inswingers of Mcgrath, skilled reverse swings of Waqar and Wasim, but so has Sunil Gavaskar. Is there anyone brave enough to face the four horsemen of the apocalypse, Joel Garner, Andy Roberts, Michael Holding, Colin Croft, later joined by Malcolm Marshall? Who can retaliate against the brutality of Dennis Lillee and Jeff Thompson? Who could score all those runs without a helmet, thigh guard, rib guard? Not just score but get India to win in Caribbean Islands and set a record of chasing 400 in 4th innings in a Test Match. Who could have done those heroics built of 5.5 ft in those conditions when India was not more than a minnow?

Even today, we have Virat Kohli, who recently became the fastest to score 60 International hundreds surpassing Sachin Tendulkar. Then we have Prithvi Shaw, Shubman Gill, Tejaswi Jaiswal – the next breed of torch-bearer of Indian batting – already making their mark in world cricket. But still, the question remains unanswered, will there be another Tendulkar? There can be players with the same talent, with the same cricketing prowess, and the same passion for the game – even more. But does this qualify to call them ‘The Next Sachin Tendulkar’? There can be few with his level of dedication, perseverance, and focus. There can be few with his madness level to play International competitive Cricket for 24 years, but is it enough? Was Sachin Tendulkar called ‘The Next Gavaskar’? The answer is No, and he was, is, and will be Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, a North Star in the history of Cricket.

So next question, why is that there can’t be a next Tendulkar. There are a few reasons that I could see, there can be few that you would know, and there will be few unexplored as well. A player or a personality is made out of the environment, is carved by the ecosystem in which he/she has come from. That environment becomes an integral developmental framework for that person. Even if the situation can be recreated, any human involvement adds a variation in the outcome, however minuscule it can be. This is the gist of my justification why there can’t be another Tendulkar. Since my engineering days, my answers have been in points here as well. Let me explain it in 4 points and detail:

First, Ajit Ramesh Tendulkar – Sachin Tendulkar’s Brother.

Ajit Tendulkar & Sachin Tendulkar

Ajit Tendulkar & Sachin Tendulkar

Will there be any person who transfers his love towards cricket love to his younger brother and does not stop at just handing him over to a coach but sacrifices his career, his ambitions to make a ‘player’ out of this youngster?

Second, Ramesh Tendulkar and Rajni Tendulkar – Sachin Tendulkar’s Parents.

The parents’ name is synonymous to sacrifice. Even our parents would have done, doing to date who knows, but how easy would it be for Ramesh and Rajni to raise four kids in Mumbai and spend over an expensive sport? In India, where sports always have taken a secondary place to study, how could Mr. and Mrs. Sachin Tendulkar think about changing Sachin’s school? How easy would it be for them to part with their youngest one at the age of 11-12 so he can dedicate his time to fulfill his dream?

Third Suresh Tendulkar and Mangala Tendulkar – Sachin Tendulkar’s uncle and aunt.

Will there be any uncle and aunt who would treat their nephew as their son, allow him to stay at their place so as not to study but so that he can commit himself to Cricket?

Fourth, Anjali Sachin Tendulkar – Sachin Tendulkar’s wife.

Anjali Tendulkar & Sachin Tendulkar

Anjali Tendulkar & Sachin Tendulkar

Though she has been ranked fourth here, the number does not do justice to her sacrifice. Will there be any better half who would remove the household’s burden from her husband so he can carry the load of the entire nation?

Coach, friends, well-wishers, The Almighty, fellow team members, even finding a combination of these won’t be that easy, will it?

We all know the Tendulkar half baked, completely exhausted, still carrying on in the net, not throwing his wicket to acquire a pat on the back and the Re. 1 coin placed on the stump behind him, which he still says is his proud and most precious collection. Still, this foundation was supported by these pillars which acted as a strong base, a wall between the world and Sachin, as a shield, so he could only focus on one thing, Cricket, should be revered very highly, shouldn’t we? I am sure Sachin himself would be placing them on the top, but I am talking from the ‘fans’ perspective.

Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar

Here, I might be speaking more about the peripheral system, but this shouldn’t give us any reason to blame our ecosystem if we are not what we desired. Remember, Achrekar Sir only took Sachin under him when he showed some promise.

So, is there a Sachin in your home or around you? Can we be someone’s Ramesh, Rajni, Ajit, Suresh, Mangala, Anjali? Can we take steps today to take pride later in being the foundation of a tower? Or importantly, can we be our own Ajit, Ramesh, Rajni, Anjali, Suresh to emerge ourselves as a Sachin. Food for thought.

Sachiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin Sachin…!
